Żurrieq Wolves members shine in Zurich and Rieti
Żurrieq Wolves athletes achieved a spate of excellent results in international races last Sunday. Running in the Zurich marathon, Alfred Debono broke his own national record in the over-60 category as he covered the 42.195 km distance in 3:01:06.

Running in the Zurich marathon, Alfred Debono broke his own national record in the over-60 category as he covered the 42.195 km distance in 3:01:06. Debono was presented with a handful of prizes after topping the O-60 timesheets.
The veteran Maltese athlete is having an outstanding season. In the space of five months, Debono has participated in two marathons and two half marathons, always claiming first place in his category. In the Verona half marathon, Debono set a new national mark of 1:25:25.
Another two Żurrieq Wolves members, Mario Grech and Doreen Vella, obtained personal bests in the Zurich event. Grech finished the race in 2:55:09 and Vella clocked 3:01:13.
Also on Sunday, four other members of Żurrieq Wolves were in Italy to take part in the Rieti half marathon. On a cloudy day, the Maltese runners left their mark on the race with Joseph Saliba finishing second overall in 1:14:32.
Adrian Mifsud (1:16:50) placed fourth ahead of Melvin Mifsud (1:17:02) and Simon Lia (1:18:10) who finished fifth and sixth respectively.
The Wolves quartet also won the team competition.
