Hibs lost two precious points this afternoon with a 2-2 draw against Marsaxlokk which leaves them just four points ahead of Valletta at the top of the Premier League - with the Citizens having a game in hand.
It was the second setback in as many games for the Paolites, having lost their game against the Citizens last week.
Peter Pullicino put Marsaxlokk ahead just before the break, but Hibs appeared to turn things around with two second half goals in a quarter of an hour by Cohen and Calleja. Chris Camilleri, however, equalised for Marsaxlokk with 10 minutes to go.
Earlier, Qormi moved to the top of the tight relegation pool today by beating Msida St Joseph 2-1.
It was not easy for them however. Msida opened the score on the half hour thanks to Pedro dos Santos Calcado and Qormi only managed the equaliser on the 53rd minute courtesy of Effiong. They sealed their victory with a penalty goal by Farrugia 10 minutes from time.
