Alex Borg maintained his status as national champion on Friday night following a 7-2 victory in the final over Duncan Bezzina at the Anglo-Maltese League.
This was the ninth national title and seventh in a row for Borg.
It was Bezzina who took the first frame 60-36 but Borg showed remarkable form in the next frames and with breaks of 42, 58, 79, 68 and 56 he took a commanding 5-1 lead before a mid-session interval.
When play resumed Borg won the seventh frame and Bezzina made it 6-2 with a break of 44.
But a run of 60 in the ninth frame helped Borg secure the point he needed to retain the title.
After the final, MBSA president Joe Caruana Curran presented trophies to both finalists.
Borg's next commitment will be the European Championships in Belgium, in June. He will then take part in the final stages of the World Grand Prix in Thailand, in July.
Borg and Bezzina will represent Malta in November's IBSF World Championships in India.
