BALDACCHINO. On April 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, to Giselle née Farrugia and Brian, God's precious gift of a son - MATTHEW JOHN, a most welcome brother to Andrew and Julian. Special thanks to the obstetrician, midwife Denise Ciappara for her endless support and dedication, and all the staff at Obs 3.

BELAID. On April 17, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, to Amel Dekna and Mahmoud, God's precious gift of a son - ABDALLA OMAR, a most welcome brother to Soliman. Thanks to the obstetrician and midwife Carmen Scerri. Special thanks to all the maternity staff at the hospital.

KONIDARIS. On April 21, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, to Alexia née Balzan Demajo and Fotis, God's precious gift of a daughter, a most welcome sister to Nikolas. Thanks to the obstetrician, anaesthetist and midwife Carmen Scerri. Special thanks to all the maternity staff at the hospital.

REFALO. On April 15, at the Nottingham City Hospital, Nottingham, to Chiara née De Micoli and Nick, the precious gift of a son - MICHAEL, a most welcome brother to James. Deo gratias et Mariae.

Marriages

Mr MARCO SARTORI and Miss SIMONE VELLA
MARCO and SIMONE were married in Italy at the church of Coriano Veronese, Verona, on April 18. Marco is the son of Mr and Mrs L. Sartori of San Bonifacio, Verona. Simone is the daughter of Mr and Mrs V. Vella of Attard. The witnesses were Dr Sarah Vella, the bride's sister, and Dott. Stefano Borzani, a close friend of the couple.

Obituary

ABELA. On April 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANĠLU, honorary member and former bandsman of La Vittoria Band of Mellieħa, aged 82, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Carmen, his children Sonny and his wife Ann of the UK, Walter and his wife Rita, Lino and his wife Jacqueline, Anna and her husband Alfred, Marika, Marcelle and her husband David, his 11 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for St Helen Street, Mellieħa, where it will be accompanied by the La Vittoria Band of Mellieħa for Mellieħa parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m. followed by interment at Sultana tal-Vittorji cemetery, Mellieħa. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated.

CASSAR. On April 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH, of Cospicua, aged 78, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughters Cettina and her husband Roberto and Isabella and her husband Joseph, his daughter in-law Brigitte, his beloved grandchildren Karen, Roberto, Marco, Alan, Russell, Sean, Kathianne and Ariana and their respective spouses, his beloved great-grandchildren, his brother Sam and his wife Rose, his sister Cettina and her husband Fred, his in-laws, nephew and nieces, all their families, relatives and friends.

The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception collegiate church, Cospicua, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. FALZON. JOYCE, née Calleja Gera, aged 86, widow of Joe, passed peacefully away in Toronto on April 22. She leaves to mourn her great loss her devoted children Pierre and his wife Myra, Anna and her husband Mike, Andre and his wife Kathy, Mariquita and her husband Frank, her 10 grandchildren and their respective spouses, her nine great-grandchildren, her sister Rita Bonello Ghio, her in-laws Lina Calleja Gera, Lina Calleja Gera of Toronto, Alice and Antoine Tonna, nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

The funeral will take place tomorrow at the Nativity of Our Lord church, Etobicoke, followed by interment. May she rest in peace.

PIROTTA. On April 24, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH MARY of Sliema, aged 84, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Lydia, his children Joe and his wife Elaine, Marlene and her husband Tony Gatt, Doreen and her husband Vincent Camilleri, his grandchildren Michelle, Jamie, Carol, Amy, Clark, Maxine, Victoria and Denise, his in-laws and their families, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9 a.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

TONNA. On April 24, at his residence, RONALD, aged 55, from Ħamrun and residing in Mosta, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Carmen, his children Abygail, Andrew, and Simon-Peter, his brothers and sisters, in-laws and their spouses, other relatives and friends, including members of the Neo-Catechumenal Way of the Immaculate Conception church, Ħamrun.

The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for Mosta parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at Mosta cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest.

WILKINSON. On April 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, John Barry, aged 81, passed peacefully away. He will be sadly missed by his wife Barbara, Helen and Steven, Sally and Lloyd, Jan, Jill and Steph, grandchildren Richard, Catherine, Matthew and Jake, Vicky, Gemma, Nina, Kirk and Amy, great-grandchildren Megan and Maisie and all his family and friends in Malta and in the UK.

A funeral service will take place on Friday at 3 p.m. at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery (from Sta Lucija side, back gate) and afterwards at Torri Mamo, Marsascala. No flowers by request but donations to Razzett tal-Ħbiberija in Marsascala will be greatly appreciated. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who cared for him at Mater Dei and Karin Grech Hospitals. Lord grant him eternal rest.

Tomorrow being the first anniversary of the death of LINA ZAMMIT TABONA, the 6.30 p.m. Mass at Ta' L-Ibraġ parish church will be offered for the repose of her soul. The attendance of relatives and friends will be greatly appreciated.
