European socialist leader underlines Malta's immigration problems
Labour leader Joseph Muscat meets new French socialist leader Martine Aubry, Greek socialist leader George Papandreou and Paul Nyrup Rasmussen, former Prime Minister of Denmark and leader of the Party of European Socialists.
European Socialist leaders were acknowledging Malta's immigration problems, Labour leader Joseph Muscat said today at the end of a summit of European socialist parties to launch their European Parliament electoral campaign.
The Labour leader observed that group president Martin Schulz made a direct reference to Malta's problem in a keynote speech at the conference in Toulouse yesterday.
Mr Schulz spoke about Malta's problems and stressed that the country could not be expected to solve the immigration problem on its own.
Dr Muscat said that such support showed that a progressive majority at the forthcoming EP elections would enable Malta to make a stronger case in the European Parliament.
He said the European socialists were like one family in their support for Malta.
During their meeting, the socialist leaders underlined the need for a change which would make Europe more receptive to the people's needs.
Speakers included George Papandreou, leader of the Greek Socialists, French socialist leader Martine Aubry, and Poul Nyrup Rasmussen former Danish Prime Minister and leader of the European socialists.
Dr Muscat, who also addressed the conference, was accompanied by party foreign affairs spokesman George Vella and Louis Grech, head of the PL delegation to the European Parliament.

Five years ago, this political fight had started against illegal immigration and now the whole of Malta joined the ranks.Europe will follow our example. They will respect and honour us. We would have saved Europe for the second time, a small country might seem to be on a walking stick, but in reality, has the spirit of a lion.

The hypocrisy of the socialist group is abundant. Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't this group responsible in requesting the Eu member states to give the vote right to all illegal immigrants? How low can we go?

Support on illegal immigration issue in Malta requires across party support from within the EU. It would be folly for any representative or elected represetative at the EU to play politics with his overseas socialists when they don't hold any real solutions or suitrable power.
The solutions are from the whole EU and some politicians must learn that nations future integrity is above politics. Illegal immigration affects all countries withing EU, some maybe poor aliens and some maybe criminal - so the whole of EU wants to sort this out not just on colour of politicians.

So now Joe Muscat left Alex Sciberras Trigona at home? Isn't Alex the Labour Party's international secretary?
