'High-quality' buses on Maltese market
UNEC managing director Mario Bonnici (right) explaining Temsa's benefits, including Euro 5 emission standards, to the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Communication, Austin Gatt.
Bus owners, drivers and members of the public have been invited to sample the comfort of two new "high-quality" bus models just launched on the Maltese market.
The Temsa Opalin and the Temsa Safari will be on display during an open weekend today and tomorrow, from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the showrooms of United Equipment Co. (UNEC) Ltd in Burmarrad. UNEC, which this year celebrates its 20th year of success in business, is Temsa's 49th company to join its global network.

Do they have exits in the middle portion of the bus (like almost all the buses in Europe) or do they have only one entrance next to the driver?

That's just great.
The Tempsa Opalin is a coach not a bus. It has no rails to hold on to for when the bus is full, it has very little space to stand between the seats again for when the bus is full, and perhaps worse, it is windowless. They probably have thick padding too, which would make them ideal for a Maltese sunny summer day.
One hopes they've airconditioning, then. And that they actually switch it on.

I really wonder how a bus driver can dress like that especially in summer time! Too good to be true.

Will the bus drivers of the *high-quality* buses be taught some mental arithmetic as well? Will they be told that they should stop cheating visitors who travel on their buses?

Euro 5 emission standards only apply when using the correct fuel, not heavy heating oil, kerosine or whatever else these cowboys use to cut corners to save a few € at the expense of our air quality.

Now that we have high quality Buses lets hope that the operators for the job are also in that catogory and not letting the system down. Pepe Sammut

Let us all hope that these high quality vehicles fit in our road system, in that they are not too long or wide causing traffic congestions.
One should also consider restoring and refurbishing the Maltese old buses that are still on the road, which in my opinion, form part of the island's cultural heritage

More 'high-quality' drivers - especially on some of the old bone-shaker buses - could very well be an alternative. Cheaper, certainly, and more attractive.

Will buses like these be kept at the same high level of filth we are imposed on to at the moment?
