The Malta Billiards and Snooker Association (MBSA) snooker season comes to a close this evening with the final of the Premier Division from this year's National Championships.

The two finalists are current champion Alex Borg, of Juventutis Domus Club, Żejtun and Duncan Bezzina, of Ħamrun Liberty Sports Club.

In the semi-finals, played earlier this week, Borg eased past Saviour Brignone 6-1 and Bezzina was a 6-3 winner over Simon Camilleri.

The two finalists have been the most consistent players this season. Borg won three of the four ranking tournaments organised by the MBSA while Bezzina was finalist in the last two, losing only to Borg. The two players also secured the top two places on the MBSA ranking list with Borg heading the chart for the ninth consecutive year.

This will be Borg's 16th national snooker final while Bezzina has reached the final once before, in 2003. Borg is aiming to win his ninth Malta title and seventh in a row while Bezzina is bidding to become national champion for the first time.

The final (best of 13 frames) starts at 6.15 p.m. at the Anglo Maltese League, Valletta.

The referee will be Joe Debono.
