Plans for land-based wind farm study

Dr. Cassola please enlighten us - publish the names of these foreign experts. You work wonders at saying things without proof. You say you'll create green jobs, without any specification of what these green jobs are, now you are saying that foreign experts say that wind farms at Sikka L-Bajda are not viable. Can you please publish the names of these experts - if they really do exist???

Noise, ruined landscape, effects on birds and fauna?
Did you complain before on ruined landscapes, effect on birds and fauna by the thousands of matchbox-sized concrete jungle called apartments?
Do you mean to tell me that birds are so blind and stupid that they fly in them?

Of course you are right with the oil pollution, but, do two wrongs make a right? The countries a few miles away from us are all huge and not a tiny rock with 400000 people on it, and I am ommiting the tourists that come throughout the year. How many turbines can one put on this tiny rock without having a negative impact on such a densely population. What about the noise they create, what about the ruined landscape they create, what about the effects on birds and fauna they create, and do they create electromagnetic interference problems? Common sense dictates that they do most of these.
Will the output of these turbines out weight the negativity they will create? We tend to forget what a small land mass we have.
Why did most of us realise without any studies that sea based turbines were going to cost a bomb to do, so as not to be viable. Now we are going to repeat it on land.
I`m all out for green energy, however let us not build a castle and bring down another in the process.

to comments made: IMHO, this argument '' that we should be independent from others' does not hold anymore nowadays. why?? we depend on other countries anyway!! Italy and germany and the US have been giving us grants and loans and donations for YEARS and YEARS. so.... my point about wind farms is: as many know,,, they are VERY VERY expensive technology. can we realistically go for that,,,,and even go further and place them in the sea??? the government ( let alone the common people) cannot even afford solar technology. it would be a dream if we switch to solar and wind and not depend on anyone but LET US BE REALISTIC. it needs to make business and economic sense. What can malta afford?? from where will the investment come?? we need to answer these questions before 'wanting' all this new and expensive technology. and above all, there will soon be URGENT need of additional secure power.

Why do we always have to depend on someone else. Why must we opt for the link to the mainland when we have alternatives. One wonders what would happend if we were to cross our swords with Italy , would they still leave us swtiched on? We have an example last winter when the russiona shut off the Gas for Half of europe because the Ukraine did nopt pay their bills. In life the bigest fight is between the greatest friends.

CAN IT BE THAT COMMON SENSE IS GOING TO PREVAIL?!!?!

FORGET SEA-BASED WIND FARMS. TOP MARKS AND ENCOURAGEMENT FOR LAND BASED ONES. SUGGESTIONS ARE DWEJRA/TA CENC CLIFFS, SAN LAWRENZ CLIFFS. ALL NORTH WEST FACING WITH NO OBSTACLES. ( NOTE: GOZO ECO ISLAND!!)

BUT FULL MARKS FOR A MALTA SICILY POWER LINE FOR STARTERS!! LETS NOT BITE MORE THAN WE CAN CHEW, BE MORE EUROPEAN THAN THE EUROPEANS, TRY TO IMPLEMENT TECHNOLOGIES WE WE DO NOT HAVE A CLUE ABOUT!!!

note: my suggestins are for free - no huge mega consultation fees ;)
