Making the right choice of MEPs (1)

As days rolled by, the list of Maltese candidates for prospective European parliamentarians got longer and longer.

It is also varied. Come June 6, the Maltese electorate will be asked to cast his\her vote in favour of those whom we would like to represent us in the European Parliament.

Having a choice is good and healthy as it will give each one of us the chance to choose the best five out of the whole lot. However, it will be up to each one of us to reflect well and vote only for those whom we believe that, besides serving our country in the best possible way, and are consistent in their beliefs, are also willing and ready to safeguard the country's Christian values; for those who will be ready to use their power and effective voices not only when it comes to material or financial matters but also to stand up and be counted, and go, if need be, against all odds where and when our Christian traditions are at stake; for those whose past reflects honesty and integrity even in their daily personal lives.

Then and only then, we can rest assured that we have chosen well, that our vote was cast in the best possible way and we have been of true service to our country.
