United Automobile Ltd has launched the new Insignia, the flagship model of the Opel range and Car of the Year 2009.

With the Insignia, Opel redefines and sets new technological standards to the mid-size class - this is evident in its next to top aerodynamics and innovative highlights such as the adaptive FlexRide chassis, intelligent all-wheel-drive Adaptive 4x4, AFL+ lighting and the Opel Eye Camera. With its coupé-like roofline and strong design focus, the Opel Insignia brings much-needed panache to a market segment that is turning around as people search for a well-designed car that is fuel efficient but still fun to drive.

The Insignia was made to be a sleek, aerodynamic car with an exceptionally low 0.27 CD drag co-efficient. More than 250 components in the Insignia are made from recycled materials; and it is designed to be 85 percent recyclable at the end of its life.

The new Opel Insignia is sold from the start with an exceptionally broad range of six engines that are certified as meeting Euro 5 emissions standards. The three gasoline ecoFLEX engines range from 140 to 260 hp and three new two-litre turbo-diesels offer power outputs of 110, 130 and 160 hp.

The Insignia is available as a 4four door saloon or a sporty five door hatchback or notchback and in four equipment variants: Essentia, Elegance, Sport and Cosmo, each carefully styled to create its own ambience, while sharing the intrinsic Insignia philosophy.

The Opel Insignia offers a bold synthesis of dynamic design, intuitive ergonomics, and an enthralling driving experience. With a starting price of €25,600 customers can opt for either the 1.8i 140bhp petrol or 2.0 CDTI 110bhp diesel.

Highly equipped with a long list of creature comforts that one would expect from a car of its caliber, the Opel Insignia is truly a discovery worth making.
