Strawberry Festival on Sunday

The third edition of the popular Festa Frawli (Strawberry Festival) will be held at Mgarr on Sunday from 11 am.

Mgarr square will be buzzing with activity, with several stalls selling freshly picked strawberries, taken to the square every hour by the farmers themselves. Chefs will prepare gourmet dishes such as strawberry risotto and soup. Also, strawberries with novel dressings such as balsamic vinegar can be savoured at the chef's stalls.

Drinks will include a variety of refreshing smoothies, milk shakes as well as strawberry wine.

The on-site kitchen will be serving desserts including cakes, gateaux, ice creams (in edible chocolate cups) as well as waffles, pancakes, tarts, fruit salads and of course chocolate dipped strawberries.

And for the little ones, there will be strawberries decorated with chocolates and sweets in the shape of cute mice and other fun animals.

Taking part will be folk dancers and singers and other local talent, and there will be games for children.

Souvenirs and other collectibles will be on sale at the crafters' stalls.

The festival is being organised by the Mgarr council, Kummisjoni Lejla Mgarrija and the Rural Affairs Ministry.
