Vikings team win Barbarossa Cup

The Imperial Gozo Yacht Club recently hosted the second Barbarossa Cup with members from the Vikings Sailing Club being the main guests for the race.

Three boats from each club raced as a team in the Barbarossa Cup with the Vikings' team decisively winning the race with an overall time of 5:17.34. The Gozitans only managed 6:01.07.

The day turned out perfect in terms of racing conditions, with a force 3-4 easterly wind, making the course from outside Mġarr harbour, around Comino and back, a testing itinerary for the sailors.

The three Vikings boats led for most of the distance, with Kartali finishing first on corrected time, followed by Windward and Moondance.
