A Swedish man was given a suspended jail term after he admitted to assaulting three police officers as they were escorting him to the Cospicua police station last Sunday.
The police had received a report that the 24-year-old was kicking up a fuss at the Casino Di Venezia. Three police officers tried to escort him out of the casino but he put up a struggle.
On the way to the Cospicua police station, the man resisted arrest and slightly injured all three officers. The policemen managed to get him into custody but he continued to cause trouble, threatening them and challenging them to a fight.
He was then taken to the lock-up at the Paola police station to await his arraignment, where he continued to swear at the officers.
Police inspector Jesmond Borg told the court that the man was drunk during the incident.
He was jailed for one year suspended for two years and fined €500.
