Obituary

CALLEJA. On April 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, VINCENT of St Paul's Bay, aged 89, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Evelyn, his children Jane, Yvonne, Frans, John, Martin and their spouses, his brother Joseph, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 7.15 a.m. for St Paul's Bay parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8 a.m., followed by interment at St Paul's Bay cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

DEBONO. On April 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIA DOLORES (Doris) of Marsascala, aged 72, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother Gustav, her nephews and nieces, Miriam, Louis, Charlie, Joseph, Rian, David and Frankie, their spouses and children, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, Mellieħa, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for St Anne's parish church, Marsascala, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, Mellieħa, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

GRECH. On April 20, MARIA STELLA, widow of Carmelo, passed away peacefully at home, at the venerable age of 95, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved sons Ġorġ and Joseph, her daughters-in-law Margaret and Jennifer, her in-laws Mary and Marcel, her grandchildren Christopher, Julian, Sarah, Armand, Jerome, Matthew, Jonathan, Claude, Kashel and Yasmine, her great-grandchildren James, Steve, Kyra, Amy, Max, Alexandra and Alexandra, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves her residence tomorrow at 8.45 a.m. for Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.

TOBIAS - CHRISTINE MARGARET. Died on April 7. Beloved widow of John and adored mother of the late Christopher Tobias. She will be remembered for her work as secretary to the Historical Association and her involvement at Elanguest Language School, Malta. Also as a well known soroptimist and chair of Governors at Harborne Primary School. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and many friends. Funeral service will take place at Lodge Hill Crematorium, Birmingham, on April 24 at 2 p.m. No flowers please. VELLA. On April 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH of St Venera, aged 90, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Alfred and his wife Miriam, Josephine and her husband Edmond Zarb, Connie and her husband Danny D'Anastasi, his grandchildren Thelma, Sharon, Simon, Natasha, Alexandra, Matthew, and Abigail, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St Venera old parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

PILLING - GLADYS. Today the third anniversary of her passing away. So sadly missed, so lovingly remembered. Her son Raymond, grandchildren Leah and Sam, her brothers Charles and Tony, her sisters Marlene and Margaret, and in-laws. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

VELLA - GODFREY. Loving memories of a dear husband and father, today being the sixth anniversary of his demise. Deeply loved and missed by his wife Antoniette, his daughter Candida and husband Patrick, his son Donald and wife Rosette, grandchildren, relatives and friends. "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live" (John 11 Verse 25).

ZARB - GEORGE. Lingering memories of a wonderful father and grandfather who enriched the lives of all his family. He is lovingly remembered particularly on this eighth anniversary of his death by his children and their families.

Mail van models

Maltapost has issued a set of three model vans used to transport mail in the past. The Post Office Collection consists of a Bedford CA, a Morris 1000 and a Morris Mini Minor, which were used between the 1950s and 1970s and are limited to 4,000 sets.

The models, which cost €48, are available from all Maltapost branches, its mobile units and philatelic bureau.

Investment in art

Vivian Storlund, a researcher and journalist, will deliver a lecture on the investment in art and culture on Thursday at 7.15 p.m. at the university's Gateway Hall D1. The lecture is organised by the Philosophy Society.

Coffee morning

A coffee morning will be held at the Attard parish hall, organised by the Physically Handicapped Rehabilitation Fund, on April 30 at 9.30 a.m. To attend, call Helen Sciberras on 9984 5600 or Rita Bezzina on 2169 3863. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Vehicle reported stolen

A red Tata Sumo, registration number DBE 306, was reported stolen from Rabat on April 7. If seen, call the owner on 7953 8445, Laferla Insurance on 2123 0525, or the police.

Lecture on gender

A lecture on gender, sexuality and ethics will be delivered by Yale University scholar Margaret Farley on Thursday at 6.30 p.m. at the university's Gateway Building Hall A.

Discussion on climate

The impact of climate change on small islands will be discussed on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Circolo Gozitano, Sir Adrian Dingli Street, Victoria.

Charity day

Funds for the Church's homes and charitable activities will be collected during Mass on Saturday evening and Sunday to mark Charity Day.
