Fireworks Festival over Grand Harbour

The eighth edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival will be held at Grand Harbour on April 30 and May 1.

It is being organised by the Secretariat for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority as part of events marking the fifth anniversary of Malta's EU membership.

Twelve local fireworks factories and three foreign companies will demonstrate their expertise over the two evenings.

The festival will kick off on each evening at 9.30 p.m. with a 15-minute fireworks display, designed by a foreign pyrotechnic company. This will be followed by a set of fireworks displays from the local factories in a ‘one by one’ competitive series of displays. This is meant to involve, more than ever before, the local pyrotechnic enthusiasts. A fireworks display synchronized to music will close each evening’s event.

The participating local firework factories are: Lily Fireworks Factory of Mqabba, Lourdes Fireworks Factory of Naxxar, Mt Carmel Fireworks Factory of Żurrieq, Our Lady of Consolation Fireworks Factory of Gudja, San Bastjan Fireworks Factory of Qormi, San Bert Fireworks Factory of Għargħur, San Mikiel Fireworks Factory of Lija, San Nikola Fireworks Factory of Siġġiewi, Sta Marija Fireworks Factory of Għaxaq, Sta Marija Fireworks Factory of Mġarr, and St Andrew Fireworks Factory of Luqa.

The foreign companies are Performance Pyrotechnics – Australia; Vaccalluzzo Zio Piro of Italy; and Nakaja Art of Poland.
