Frans Pace was in a class of his own at the Bidnija ranges last weekend when the fourth and final shoot for GSSE trap selection was held.

During the two-day competition, with the Muscat Cup at stake, the experienced Pace reached international levels when smashing two 25-straights on his way to victory and a remarkable score of 121 from a possible 125 before the final.

In the barrage, Pace added another 22 points to his tally to finish on 143, ten clays ahead of second-placed Stanley Cardona.

Lino Galea was third on 132.

Nazzareno Attard scored a modest 127 points yesterday but his effort was still good enough for him to secure the other GSSE slot available for trap shooters.

William Chetcuti and Derek Bonanno will represent the country in double trap and in skeet, Malta's shooters will be Clive Farrugia and Paul Vella.

William Vella and Ray Cacciattolo qualified for the target shooting events in Cyprus.

Muscat Cup: 1. F. Pace (121+22) 143; 2. S. Cardona (116+17) 133; 3. L. Galea (110+22) 132; 4. E. Borg (110+18) 128; 5. N. Attard (110+17) 127; 6. J. Pisani (109+16) 125.
