Raid yields almost a kilo of cocaine
A police investigation and a raid on a Qawra apartment have yielded almost a kilo of cocaine, the police said this afternoon.
A 33-year-old Nigerian was arrested and taken to court today.
The operation started after the police on Saturday found another Nigerian man in possession of three drug capsules.
The police yesterday searched an apartment in St Timothy Street, Qawra, and found 94 capsules with almost a kilo of cocaine.
Magistrate A. Vella launched an inquiry.
The Nigerian man was arraigned this morning and accused of association to traffic drugs. He was remanded in custody.

Having been an emigrant myself I think I am better qualified than most here to comment. When my parents first took me to England as a child, I was subjected to much abuse and cries of 'wog go home'. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. Since then ,of course, attitudes have changed in England and for the most part people of different colour or nationality or religion get on well together. To answer your question, yes I try to do my bit for these unfortunates and whilst not having any living with me.I would have no objection if it came to it. All the migrants that I have met so far have been very courteous and polite and the few that have come to work at my house have always done an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. And yes,I am proud to say they have shared my table when the occasion warranted it. Since I returned to the place of my birth I have had more than my fair share of bad workmanship and bad tempers coupled with foul language. All from my fellow Maltese.
