Team-by-team analysis of today's Chinese Formula One Grand Prix (in current championship order):
BRAWN GP (Jenson Button 3, Rubens Barrichello 4)
Button failed to complete a hat-trick of wins but still stretched his lead over Barrichello to six points after starting fifth. Barrichello had brake problems early in the race but ended with the fastest lap.
RED BULL (Sebastian Vettel 1, Mark Webber 2)
Vettel's second career win, after last year's success in Italy with Toro Rosso, brought Red Bull their first. He started on pole position. Webber overtook Button for the best result of his career. Red Bull leapfrog Toyota into second place.
TOYOTA (Timo Glock 7, Jarno Trulli retired)
Glock, who incurred a five place penalty for a gearbox change, started from the pit lane heavy on fuel. He had to make an early stop on lap 24 after damaging his front wing in a collision with BMW-Sauber's Heidfeld. Trulli was hit from behind on lap 17 by BMW-Sauber's Robert Kubica, with the Pole launched into the air and on to the Toyota.
MCLAREN (Heikki Kovalainen 5, Lewis Hamilton 6)
Kovalainen finally completed a race lap and beat his team mate into the bargain. The Finn started 12th. Hamilton overtook Ferrari's Raikkonen repeatedly but spun twice and destroyed his tyres. "I made a few too many mistakes today," he said.
RENAULT (Fernando Alonso 9, Nelson Piquet 16)
Alonso started on the front row with the lightest car on the grid and was the first to pit while the safety car was still deployed. Piquet had a race to forget, skidding off and smashing the nose of his car but keeping the engine running.
TORO ROSSO (Sebastien Buemi 8, Sebastien Bourdais 11)
Another impressive race for the only rookie on the track, his second points finish in three starts. He overtook Hamilton and Raikkonen but blotted his copybook by ramming into the back of Vettel's car, fortunately without damage to it. Bourdais spun a couple of times and said the conditions were too bad to race.
BMW-SAUBER (Nick Heidfeld 12, Robert Kubica 13)
Kubica crashed into the back of Trulli's Toyota, in a less serious repeat of his big 2007 Canadian GP crash, but astonishingly returned to complete the race. Heidfeld complained of low tyre pressure, collided with Glock and late in the race ran over debris from Sutil's car that cost him a points finish.
WILLIAMS (Nico Rosberg 16, Kazuki Nakajima retired)
Rosberg again failed to translate his practice promise into race pace. He pitted early on lap seven in a change of strategy while the first safety car was deployed but that backfired when the race was resumed sooner than expected. His visor also became fogged up in the rain. Nakajima had several offs and retired with the team's first mechanical failure since Spain a year ago.
FORCE INDIA (Giancarlo Fisichella 13, Adrian Sutil 17)
Sutil had Force India's first points in his grasp until he crashed six laps from the end while in sixth place. Fisichella was 11th at the halfway stage before suffering tyre degradation.
FERRARI (Kimi Raikkonen 10, Felipe Massa retired)
Ferrari still without a point in their worst start to a season since 1981. Massa might have been on the podium but was stopped on lap 21 by an electrical problem while behind the safety car in third place. Raikkonen, who had switched to a one-stop strategy, complained of a lack of grip from the second set of tyres.
