Students from schools forming part of St Theresa College scooped up first prize in all four Francofête Malte 2009 competitions related to the teaching of French organised this year the French Resource Centre at the Ġian Franġisk Abela complex, Msida. A total of 53 schools took part in the competitions.

Aaron Paul Cumbo, a Form 2 student from St Venera Boys' Secondary School was awarded first prize in one of the two categories of a competition in which students were asked to create a virtual Christmas card. More than 400 cards were presented in this competition which was divided into two categories. Colin Edward Bellizzi, another Form 2 student from the same school, placed third in the same category.

Osbert Abdilla and Darren Debrincat, two Form 4 students from the same school placed second and third in the other category of the same competition.

St Venera Boys Secondary and other school from college, Mrieħel Girls' Junior Lyceum, were awarded first prize in the Internet quiz after they managed to obtain the highest score in the contest, in which 26 schools took part paired into 13 groups.

The team was composed of Glenn Cachia, Claudio Dipasquale, and Denil Kipasa from the boys secondary at St Venera, and Nathalie Cousin, Ruth Galea, Lorna Agius and Roberta Ciantar from the girls' junior lyceum.

Steve Borg, Jacob Cipriott and Rainer Borg, all fifth formers from the college's Birkirkara Boys' Secondary, were awarded first prize in the CKWA (SMS) competition in which teams of students vied to see which were the fastest in reading and re-writing electronic messages in French.

Samuel Sant, a Year 6 pupil from the college's Birkirkara Primary, was awarded first prize from among over 200 young contestants in the junior quiz which was related to French culture.
