The University is to benefit from a €1.3 million project to set up research and development laboratory facilities in biomedical engineering, analytical chemistry and electromagnetics.
The project, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the 2007-2013 Cohesion Policy Programme, will be completed by February. It is aimed at improving Malta's competitiveness and research and development potential in various related sectors, including the pharmaceutical, healthcare and biotechnology industries.
Three University departments will benefit from the project - the Chemistry and Physics departments in the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Engineering's Department of Systems and Control Engineering.
