A British citizen residing in Malta is receiving treatment for head wounds at Mater Dei following a traffic accident in St Paul’s Bay bypass this morning.

The police said they had been informed of the accident at 9 a.m. but it was likely that it happened a few hours earlier.

They said that the car being driven by the British citizen fell two storeys into the valley beneath the bypass and it was likely that the driver lost consciousness.

The victim went out of the car by himself and walked to the road a few hours later. A person who happened to be passing by stopped to help the man and called for assistance.

The man was taken to Mater Dei and Civil Protection personnel went to the car to ensure that there were no other people inside.
