Attard residents should feel indebted to Charlo' Bonnici MP who, by his letter of March 31, informed us that, through his unstinting efforts, he is now patiently waiting for the Malta Transport Authority (ADT) to finalise the process of installing the long-awaited bus shelter in Attard, as promised to him last January in reply to his parliamentary question (PQ 4501).
We should also show our gratitude to the Attard local council whose executive secretary, Marica Mifsud, also informed us, in her letter of April 8, of the council's untiring efforts to get the bus shelter back in place, which efforts have finally resulted in getting a promise from Kevin Zahra, an officer at the ADT, that a new bus shelter was to have been installed at the same site by the end of 2008!
For the record, I too spoke to Mr Zahra, besides Manuel Gatt, about the return of the missing bus shelter way back on February 19, 2007, and was promised by Mr Zahra that, on arrival of a number of new bus shelters ordered from Japan in 2006, one of the first 10 to be installed would be at the same site of the one that went missing in Attard.
This was mentioned in my letter published in The Times of July 27, 2007.
May Mr Bonnici and the Attard local counicil get the desired result in having the elusive bus shelter back in place in the near future, hopefully to stay there permanently for the benefit of all commuters making use of the bus-stop.
Hope springs eternal!
