All the 45 officers and officer cadets attending Mcast's Maritime Institute will be attending the Superyacht Industry Seminar being held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on April 30.
Mcast's Maritime Institute provides young men and women with the opportunity to embark upon a career at sea as an officer in the merchant navy.
The seminar is to be addressed by Sir Tim McClement from the VT Group in the UK who will talk on: "The jobs opportunity in the superyacht industry".
VT Group is a leading defence and support services company, providing engineering and other support services to governments and large organisations around the world.
Sir Tim was previously Deputy Commander-in-Chief Fleet (Vice Admiral) responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Royal Navy. He will look at the jobs available in the superyachts industry - the qualifications required, the different ways of joining and the career change options from other compatible sectors such as merchant marine, hospitality or aviation. Sir Tim will also be talking about the effect of the global economic situation on the yachting industry.
The Yachting Industry: A Challenge - An Opportunity, is being held in collaboration with the International Superyacht Society and the VT Flagship, under the patronage of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport and the Yachting Services Trade Section of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry.
It is sponsored by the Malta Maritime Authority, Excelsior Grand Hotel, S&D Yachts Ltd, Medcomms Ltd, Melita Marine Group, Kirton & Co. and Universal Imports & Export Ltd and is organised by Wilfred Sultana & Associates, publishers of the directory Yachting in Malta.
