Victoria is being transformed into a healthy city this weekend with an array of physical activities taking over the main square while restaurants will offer healthy meals as their specials.

Activities being organised include dance, cycling, abseiling and martial arts. The city centre is being pedestrianised for the occasion.

Activities will start on Friday at 5 p.m. with the show Girls on the Move at St George’s Square, followed by fitness classes and a BMX show, break-dance and hip hip performances and a concert at 9 p.m. at Independence Square.

Sports displays and a show by the civil protection and police will be held on Saturday and Sunday in various squares and roads in Victoria’s centre.

Victoria mayor Robert Tabone explained that his local council decided to carry out the weekend of activities to help raise awareness about the importance of physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. Parliamentary Secretary for Sports Clyde Puli emphasised on the importance of sports adding that for each person who did some form of sports the government saved €250 a year.
