The FKNK said this was the second time in a matter of two weeks that the same print has been vandalised.

Whoever did this did wrong - period. I am anti-hunting, but everyone has the right to an opinion and if others can use billboards, so can hunters. It may well be that this billboard was torn down by a misguided person who hates hunting, although hunters are not necessarily the best of friends, and it's not the first time that one hunter targets the property of another hunter. Anyone who has seen FKNK's notices riddled with shotgun pellets knows this.

Oh well, if it had to be a billboard of birdlife ripped into pieces, then that would matter!
@P.Zahra,
I really wouldn't consider that the FKNK would put up there own billboard, then destroy it, doesn't make any sense! Right? I don't think they have the same resources, that birdlife have, to spend money on and waste them in such a way. It's just your hatred towards hunter's, and that's that! What would you say if it were a billboard brought up by birdlife? Definitely you would point your fingers out towards hunter's, without having any proofs.
@ Andrew Gatt,
well said.

Very well written, Mr. Andrew Gatt! I have always insisted that HATRED, DISRESPECT and INTOLLERANCE are the main ingredients in most of the anti-hunting lobby. An individual's words and actions says a lot about him / her. Most of the comments appearing below do not quite give a complimentary reputation of these individuals. Shame on them!!!

I am totally against hunting. Its unfair on me and the likes of me who love to see living wildlife and its bad for the obvouis large block of illegal hunting that unfortunately our islands have been plagued with.
But yet I do sympatize with the "good" hunters who abide by the law and who were brought in the mix of hatered thanks to their overzelous so called 'friends'.
But reading the varouis comments written down here I say that its purely pathetic now. Same as when FKNK claimed that picnicers made a mess of Mizieb and the general extrmists made fun of them. It made me feel like that such people have actually never been outside their door step to see what state really is our countryside thanks to the general population of Malta. Its really a mess out there.
But then I see some loving soul has thorn a poster of FKNK and here we are with the usual all out anti hunters tauting and laughing at an act of "Holy" Vandalism. May I remaind all its still vandalism.
And may I yet remind all that 2 wrongs make no right!

@ andrew gatt
did you really write..,,,"let's call a spade a spade"....wow some pro hunters are getting mature after so many years denying that hunting in spring is not sustainable nowadays....or maybe they are thinking we're all fools?
hunting in spring is over.....that's a spade
the law is till being broken and abused of.....that's a spade
the majority of the genral public clearly insicates they want spring hunting abolished.....that's a spade
i bet some would want to deny this....but shouldn't we call a spade a spade?

@ Andrew Gatt..
Nicely said Andrew, you couldn't have put it better..
J. Borg in particular, who surely will be Malta's next candidate for the highest environmental award on earth, seems to be of the perception that our bunny huggers and self proclaimed ornithologists are angels walking amongst us. Kemm sejjer zball imma !

@ P.Zahra
you seem to know who have done this vandalism. Well if you haven't reported him to the police, then you are making yourself part of it.
@ J. Borg
what does Ray vella and the other attaks that you mention have to do with this.

As a foreigner it would not be correct for me to comment on the rights or wrongs of billboards in Malta. All I can say that here in the UK, particularly adjacent to motorways, farmers allow "wheeled vehicles" on their land with billboards attached, obviously a commercial venture. Also, you see mobile billboards driving around towns with advertisements on them. These are lorries, obviously advertising pays.

To commentators from Steve O'Hare downwards.............my God, you are a spiteful, hate-filled pathetic lot. So one-sided, so blinkered, so anti-hunting that you can't even bring yourselves to call a spade a spade - or admit to the POSSIBILITY that there are ALSO extremists hiding under the skirts of so-called environmentalists.
Very constructive. Very objective. Very fair. NOT!! You try to portray yourselves as some paragons of virtue, and then we get comments like these. Bah. You're all the same. Extremism at its finest.

Reading some of the comments make me sick. So , if a BLM billboard is vandalised , there will be photos of it all over the papers and the action is deemed as vandalism . But some of the comments here underneath suggest , that as long as it's the FKNK's billboard , it does not matter and it should not even be news. Its like going to church every day and as soon as you are out of the church you stab everyone around you in the back. What the billboard says it's true and it this act of vandalism should be condemed , same as any other kind of vandalism. Comments like these show the hatred towards each other there is on this island As regards who is causing trouble , whoever said this must be blind and living in cookoo land.

It is a pity that their appears to be a constant stream of vandalism throughout the world (not just here in Malta).
As far as billboards go, and it does not matter what or who they are for, they should all be removed - they are unsightly both in the countryside and in towns - they make a beautiful Island look cheap and nasty.

I notice that FKNK have the decency not to accuse "Illegal billboard vandals" unlike some of the accusations about "illegal hunting" made by BLM.

Why is this even news? Lets not jump to conclusions with the strong winds we had over the last few days it was probably that which caused it. Is this FKNK trying to garner sympathy for some reason?

Try to pull another one next time, dear hunters. By vandalising your own posters to pull attention away from you will not solve the very bad public perception about your so called killing hobby. It is well known that pro environmental groups will not resort to these tactics, we are not a rough lot brandishing shotguns - To the contrary we are with those that protect the environment and all within it.

Why am I not surprised? In fact I had anticipated this in an earlier comment when FKNK’s billboards were launched.
It all seems so similar to the rude threats painted in GREEN paint on the Victoria Lines last year.
It seems that some elements amongst hunters are both criminal and naïve!
What's next, some FKNK stalwart claiming his belongings were vandalised?
This would be all hilarious were it not for the directly physical and vile criminal acts directed against Ray Vella – the dedicated ranger at Ghadira, and the arson attacks on nature reserves and our national heritage.

The act is deplorable, but I wonder why FKNK seems to be shocked.
