The head of Equatorial Guinea's national airline has vanished after leaving the country on a business trip with cash worth millions of euro, said a company official.
Ceiba Intercontinental boss Mamadou Gaye left the country in late February to negotiate deals with aviation authorities of Ghana, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Gambia to establish a west Africa office for the fledgling company, the official said. "But there has been no trace of him since then," the company official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
Mr Gaye, a Senegalese citizen of Gambian origin, had a monthly salary of €38,000, the source said.
"He took more than €5 million euros and a stock of spare parts for new airplanes," he said.
Mr Gaye, a former director of Gambia-based Air Dabia, arrived in Equatorial Guinea in 2007 to take charge of the newly created Ceiba Intercontinental.
