The Local Council Association has condemned recent attacks on local wardens and noted that those found guilty of such behaviour could even be jailed.

The association called on the police to take action in line with the Local Guardian Act and expressed solidarity with wardens and their families.

A warden suffered a concussion after he was run over in the Ħal Warda area in Attard where he was monitoring traffic close to a school last week.

The General Workers' Union condemned the attack, noting that the warden was hospitalised and the driver arrested.

Last month, a man pleaded guilty to running over a local warden who tried to fine him. He was granted bail pending judgment.
