The feast of San Girgor, and the traditional first dip, is round the corner, but the sea has been anything but enticing, as this picture by Claudio Vella shows.

The picture was taken at Ċirkewwa on Sunday and shows the sea conditions which made crossing between Gozo and Malta a miserable experience for hundreds of people.

The sea has since calmed slightly and the Met Office says the weather should be fine tomorrow, when San Girgor is celebrated in Żejtun and Marsaxlokk. Whether anybody will take the first dip remains to be seen.
