Arbor Day outing

The School Arbor Committee in collaboration with the Hands On Farming (Gozo) Programme, organised a short walk at the Il-Qortin tan-Nadur area for Gozitan schools.

This activity was scheduled for last January but had to be postponed because of bad weather. The students visited San Blas Garden where they were given information on the endemic trees and the importance of protecting the few that are left.

From here they were taken to a hard stone quarry, which has been rehabilitated and will become an afforestation site.

The students then proceeded to Ta' Sopu Tower, passing through the beautiful garrigue where some rare endemic plants grow on the way.
