Impetus Europe Consulting Group has been appointed by the Employment and Training Corporation to assist in the implementation of the €8 million Employment Aid Programme.
Under the scheme, employers are entitled to a subsidy on wage costs if they hire job-seekers in specific categories. The programme, worth over €8 million in EU funds and benefits, will be launched among local employers over the coming months.
Subsidies vary under different categories which include unemployed young people, registered disabled, single parents, people returning to work, and people over 50 who do not have a job or who are at risk of being made redundant.
Impetus Europe specialises in European Union affairs, EU-related consultancy work and public affairs.
"Especially in the current climate of economic slowdown, employers should not stop investing in their most important asset, their human resources. The Employment Aid Programme is an incentive for employers to continue to engage staff," Marvin Cuschieri of Impetus Europe said.
An employer will receive a subsidy equivalent to a minimum of 50 per cent of the wage costs and employer's national insurance in the case of recruitment, Mr Cuschieri added.
If a person with disability is employed, the subsidy rises to 75 per cent of the actual wage costs for the first year, and 60 per cent of the subsequent second and third year.
