Spain break into record lead

Spain, now unbeaten in 31 matches, are breaking new ground in the world rankings. With a margin of more than 350 points on their closest chasers, they are the most dominant leaders since the ranking was first published in 1993.

Spain's nearest rivals are Germany and the Netherlands. Brazil (4th, up 1) and Italy (5th, down 1) swapped places. Argentina's qualifying thrashing in La Paz cost them points, but not any places although England (7th, up 2) are hot on their heels.

This month's best performers include Greece (13th, up 6), Uruguay (16th, up 5), Switzerland (18th, up 4) and Serbia (23rd, up 13).

Malta lost five places and is now ranked no.151 on 141 points, the same as the St Vincent and Grenadines team.

A total of 109 "A" matches were taken into account in the latest world ranking.

Top 10: 1. Spain; 2. Germany; 3. Netherlands; 4. Brazil; 5. Italy; 6. Argentina; 7. England; 8. Croatia; 9. Russia; 10. France.
