The next inter-European meeting of the Order of Preachers, known as IEOP, will be held in Malta between Wednesday and Saturday.

The meeting brings together the Dominican major superiors in Europe. Provincials, Vicars General from about 20 countries, together with several assistants to the Master of the Order, will be thinking about the Dominican mission in Europe today, sharing experiences and preparing for the General Chapter of the Order to be celebrated in Rome in August 2010.

The participants represent the apostolic mission of friars in Sweden, Denmark and Norway, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Slovakia, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Greece, Turkey and, of course, Malta.

The members of IEOP will be staying at Our Lady of the Grotto Priory and St Joseph's Retreat House, where the various sessions will be held.

The meeting will end with concelebrated Mass at the Dominican priory church in Rabat, led by Archbishop Paul Cremona OP, himself a former member of IEOP.

An IEOP meeting was held here in 1994.
