Chiara to open BJs music marathon
Malta's Eurovision star Chiara will be the first singer to take part in BJs live music marathon this year due to get underway on Easter Monday in Paceville.
This is the 20th edition of the marathon, which has so far raised more than €290,000 for charity. It is the marathon's tradition to have the year's Eurovision representative opening the event but this year Chiara will also be joined by runner-up Eleanor Cassar.
The event will start on Monday at 5 p.m. and live music of all genres will be played non-stop until April 20, including classic rock, blues, jazz, folk and pop.
The annual event had first started as a nightlong activity and later developed into a 100-hour marathon. Due to its popularity it was extended to a week-long marathon in the last years.
The money collected this year will go towards Wishing Others Well (WOW), which is the social arm of the Millennium Chapel in Paceville and supports people in need.
The event will be inaugurated by President George Abela while other distinguished guests will be in attendance.
Donations can be made at the door or through text messages on Vodafone and Go mobile numbers on 5061 8068 for donations of €4.66, 5061 8911 for €6.99 and 5061 9201 for €11.65.

@JohnPhilips Yes my friend we agree with you entirely, these venues are ok if you are betweenn 16-21 and like a bit of noise and carry a packet of asprins incase of a headache, but listening to the same old singers and same old programe its a no no for us old fobbies, but you made a very good point the Maltese really do a good job of the Easter village feasts, very realistic costumes, nice and tidy good makeup and well postured, we think they are very experienced in such events, we visited Spain, Italy and other countries but Malta its no 1 for us, i'll give the Maltese full marks for a great and a fantastic event. A big well done from us and i dare say alot of guest and tourists alike,we will certainly pass these well organised church events to our friends and anyone from back in the old country who would like to visit Malta at Easter time. This is what the Maltese tourist board should advertise more in the UK and other countries colour pictures in full glory, great opportunity for film directors., but for the music venue No but No thanks.

WHAT NO COMMENTS ON THIS SECTION!!!!!, IT LOOKS AS IF PEOPLE HAVE LOST INTEREST AND DONATE TO CHARITIES VIA THE MOBILE. WELL I SUPPOSE IT MAKES SENCE IF ONE DON'T LIKE CROWDS AND A NOSIY ATMOSPHERE, but on the other had the easter processions are fantastic we always make a point to visit such feasts on Good Friday. Well organised and worth a visit thats what we tell our friends back home in England. Viv and John Philips (English)
