Success for Gozo Discovery Bus
The hop-on-hop-off Gozo Discovery Bus service set up for a three-week trial period between July 16 and August 5, last year was a success and attracted 1,126 clients.
Answering a parliamentary question by Frederick Azzopardi (PN), Culture Minister Dolores Cristina said the service had attracted 915 foreign tourists, 176 Maltese visitors and 35 Gozitan residents.
The service formed part of the Interreg III B of the Archimed Programme, a one-time EU project focusing on sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean.

By what criteria was this considered to be a success? It carried approximately 50 passengers a day when it was in operation. This hardly seems to be an inspiring figure. And if it was such a success, why wasn't a year-round service introduced to help alleviate the transport problems that anybody, tourist or local, without resort to private transport faces in Gozo?

I`m very happy that the Hop-on,Hop-off Gozo Discovery Bus service was a success because in Malta during summer 2007 I went very frequently on the open-roof buses and enjoyed my-self to the full touring the South of Malta and in the beginning of summer 2008 touring the North of Malta.Gozo requires such a Bus service so the tourists and Gozitans can enjoy Gozo`s fantastic scenery and a scenery I quite enjoy when I visit Gozo.
