A man wanted in The Netherlands has accepted to be extradited to face charges related to the trafficking of 10 kilogrammes of cannabis.
Darren Alfred Vassallo La Rosa, 36, who holds a British passport but is Maltese, had a European arrest warrant issued against him and was taken to court on Saturday.
If Mr Vassallo La Rosa is found guilty of the charges he faces up to six years in prison.
During Saturday's sitting, defence lawyer Stephen Tonna Lowell told Magistrate Doreen Clarke his client would "probably" give himself up to the police in The Netherlands in order to contest the charges there.
In fact, the accused yesterday agreed to be extradited to Holland.
Police inspectors Joe J. Fenech and Mario Cuschieri prosecuted together with the assistance of Donatella Frendo Dimech and Elaine Rizzo, from the Attorney General's Office.
