The Gozo Squash Association recently held the Arkadia tournament at the Kempinski Health Spa, San Lawrenz, Gozo. Over 20 players took part.

In the 'A' event Carl Camilleri and Peter Wirth, both from the Marsa Sports Club, contested the final.

The match started at a furious pace with Wirth the one dominating the opening set.

But, Camilleri found his rhythm midway through the second set and never looked back as he won the final game 11-5 to secure his first victory in an 'A' event.

The 'B' final was contested by Mark Sacco (Kempinski) and Matthew Borg (Cynergi). This was probably the best match of the day.

In the end, Borg played three 'un-retrievable shots' to win the match 3-2.

During the presentation, Gozo Squash Association president Amand P. Veranneman addressed those present and talked about some of his organisation's future plans in the coming months.

These include a European Squash Federation coaching course, a junior squash day and the visit of a team from the UK in June.

Anyone interested in playing squash in Gozo may contact Veranneman on tel. 9942-3775 for more details.
