Various ethical issues in the social areas were discussed in a meeting between Social Policy Minister John Dalli and Mgr Pietro Parolin, under secretary of the Holy See for relations with states.

The minister was accompanied by Mgr Mario Laurenti, Malta's representative to the Holy See.

Mr Dalli also paid a courtesy visit to Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan, who is the pontifical council for pastoral assistance to health care workers.

During this meeting, Cardinal Javier Lozano explained his involvement in the Good Samaritan Foundation, which was instituted by the late Pope John Paul II to economically help the most needy and abandoned sick people in the world.

This foundation distributes funds collected from Catholics all over the world to AIDS sufferers.
