The former sales director of Melita plc yesterday filed a judicial protest against the company claiming that he had been unlawfully dismissed by the company.
Christopher Cachia said that he had been employed with Melita in January 2008 with responsibility for the sales department. He had worked very hard at his job and last June was promoted to the post of head of sales with an increase in salary and other incentives.
However, last January Mr Cachia had been inexplicably dismissed from his job in what he called an abusive and illegal manner. Mr Cachia added that he had been psychologically pressured into signing a letter of resignation.
According to Mr Cachia, his dismissal had been unjustified and illegal. He added that the company had terminated his health insurance policy and had not paid him for the untaken holiday leave he had. Nor had he been allowed to remove his personal effects.
Mr Cachia called upon Melita to immediately withdraw his resignation and to make good the damages he had sustained as a result of his unlawful dismissal.
Lawyers Katia Psaila Savona and Adrian Delia signed the protest.
