A monument in honour of the designer and architect of the fortifications that surround Valletta’s suburb is in the last stages of production.

It will be inaugurated on April 17.

The 21-foot monument was commissioned to 29-year-old artist Chris Ebejer, by the Floriana council.

He has been working and coordinating this work of art, which shall be placed in Robert Samut Square, for nearly three years.

The commanding figure of Italian Engineer Pietro Paolo Floriani follows the Neo Baroque style and was cast in more than eight bronze pieces due to its size and complexity. It shall perch from a classical marble base, also designed by Mr Ebejer.
