BoV hosts information seminars on agriculture

The second and third information seminars in support of the agriculture industry, by Bank of Valletta, MEUSAC and the Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs, were held at the bank's head office in Sta Venera last month.

The seminars discussed measures 114 and 123 of the Rural Development Plan supported by the EU for 2007-2013, which focuses on the provision of assistance for use of advisory services and support towards the agro-industry.

BoV is also providing financial assistance to the local agricultural sector by introducing a new financing package to support agricultural and rural development projects eligible for EU funding.

The BoV 4 Agriculture Financing package is a new product covering up to 85 per cent of total costs through bridge, financing and co-financing opportunities. This package has advantageous rates of interest with a repayment period of up to 20 years for fixed asset investments.

Rural Affairs Minister George Pullicino officially opened the second seminar. Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue Chris Said was also one of the distinguished speakers. These seminars are part of BoV's drive to ensure better dissemination of information to all interested parties and provide guidance to potential beneficiaries.

All loans are subject to normal bank lending criteria and final approval from any BoV branch.
