Obituary

SALOMONE. On April 2 at St James Capua Hospital, JOSEPHINE, aged 98, widow of the Hon. Alfred Salomone, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Simon wife of Alfred Mangion, Anne wife of Victor Schranz, Maryse wife of Lt Col Kenneth Valenzia, Jean widow of Ralph Drewry and George and his wife Helen, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her nephews and nieces and numerous friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital for Mass at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Special thanks to the matron and the staff of Casa Arkati for their loving care. May God grant her eternal rest.

TORTELL. On April 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, LOUISE, née Vella, after a short illness, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Peter, her children Simon and Silvana, Angela and Kenneth, and John and Aida, her grandchildren Nicholas, Gareth, Jessica, Elena, Tricia, Alexandra, Christina and Ana. She also leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Mary and Anthony Gregory and Victoria and Richard Escott, her brother Leonard and Carmen, her late sister Lilian Magri Overend's children, her in-laws Augustus and Doris, Marie, widow of Kit Ripard, Henry and Valerie, Philip and Josephine, Carmen and Vincent Chetcuti, and Josephine and John Dalli, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated.

Astronomy in Sliema

Amateur astronomers will set up telescopes at the promenade of Għar Id-Dud in Sliema on Sunday at 8.30 p.m. in an event organised by the International Year of Astronomy Committee. The astronomers will offer explanations to the public and give audiovisual presentations.

Blood donation

Attard Brothers Group will hold a blood donation activity on Sunday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at its head office in Ta' Qali. Employees, their families and friends and the public are invited.

Entry to Gaza Strip

Foreigners entering the Gaza Strip through Rafiah are not allowed to enter Israel through Erez. Those who enter the Gaza Strip through Erez and have an entry visa valid for two or more entries into Israel or who do not require a visa, may return to Israel through Erez.

Music for Lent

A Lenten music concert will be staged at the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul in Nadur by the Island Brass Quartet and soprano Georgina Gauci tomorrow at 8.30 p.m.

Classic cars

Auto Sales will be hosting a classic car exhibition to mark its 80 years of trading at its Mercedes and Renault showroom in Mosta Road, Lija, tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
