Updated: Man found dead in industrial furnace
(Adds details)
The police are investigating the death of a man whose corpse was found in an industrial furnace in a workshop in Bugibba yesterday.
The grim discovery was made at 9.30 p.m. in Damascus Road.
The badly burned corpse is believed to be that of 20-year-old Gaetano Romano from St Paul's Bay, who worked at his father's shop Cinque Stelle Services, which is adjacent to the place where his corpse was found. It is understood that he was found by his father.
Sources said the police are treating the case as murder and looking at the possibility that he had suffered blows to the head.
Magistrate Giovanni Grixti is holding an inquiry. An autopsy was held but the results were inconclusive, the police said.

Such a shocking story!! My deepest symphaties to his family..
I am left without words.. I didn't know Geatano and I am truly sorry for what have
happened to him! Such a young age , full of life!! How can someone take that away from you?!
Surley the person that did this has no heart and I just hope that he will pay for what he/she did. Not only in this life but for eternity!! Such a killer can never be forgiven, he/she shall be sentenced to a life in prison then sentenced to a death penalty to feel the same pain!
May God help the investigators to track him/her down!!!!
You 'll be remembered in our prayers and may you rest in peace Dear Geatano!!!

It is very saddening to read these stories, especially if the victims are youths at the best of their lives. What satisfaction can one ever have murdering a youth? May God be with his family and friends during these difficult days.

this is just so horrible and my thoughts are with his father and all those who loved him.It makes me cry just to read it.I hope that whoever did this horrible thing gets caught very very soon.We really dont want people of this kind walking the streets, and i hope they truly suffer.Even though nothing is going to bring Gaetano back.If anybody knows anything,or thinks that they can be of any help in finding the culprit or culprits, please do the right thing and go to the police. This evil monster really has to be caught and dealt with.Rest in peace Gaetano.God bless you and all those who cry for you

I would like to give my sympathy to his family, this is the biggest tragedy in Malta and it is a shame that things like this happens in this small island. Hope that the police can find the heartless murder and convict him to court for his punishment. Rest in Peace and may god be with all your family

Hello Gejtanu, I am truly sorry your young life was cut short. May the people to whom you mean something (and so much by the sounds of it) find consolation boy.
Prayers and forgiving his murders will not bring back our young man. Nor will they prevent future crimes. Make no mistake about that.
Killing another person is so extreme that there has to be an element of madness. Hence in court one often hears the words 'he showed no remorse'. That is the hallmark of a deranged mindset. And such a life, obviously, is its own punishment even though the perpetrator has no insight into his own dismal existence. That said, of course he needs to be caught. For his due punishment to act as a deterrent (doubtful) and to prevent him killing again and being destructive as is wont with these types of felons.
I am sorry Gejtanu. I am truly sorry baby. I did not know you but it is the only obituary I can offer you man. Bye.

Dear Gaetano, I will pray that you didn't suffer in death as you did in life. Although I didn't show you that I cared about you while you were alive, I did care, and I always hoped you would be guided onto the right path .... away from drugs and alcohol. Now your soul will rest next to your beloved mother, who was taken away from you so early in life. May you both find eternal peace. I will always pray that you do. As for the evil murderer .... he WILL get his comeuppance. I hope the police will find him soon. And may his punishment be equal or worse than he meted out to you, son. Kimberley's love and prayers are also with you.

I am deeply shocked by what has happened to poor Gaetano. Such a sweet boy, so very polite and helpfull. We were asisted by him only last week and as always, so helpfull and polite. I have no words for his killer, other than that he/she will pay for his/her actions, if not in this life, in the next.
God bless your soul Gaetano and may you rest in peace, now close to your beloved mother.
whom you lost to illness at such a young age. God bless you both.

@Carmelo Palmier Cecy
"personally forgive the perpetrators"??
we? who are we? is it up to us to forgive the sub-humans who did this? As far as I'm concerned whoever did this should be put in the oven themselves, and burnt alive.

* I weep over what happened, and pray for the repose of the victom's soul.
* I offer my condolences to the victim's relatives.
* We should personally forgive the perpetrators, and pray for them too; while hoping that the
police will bring the perpetrators to justice in our courts of law.
* We should propose to lead better lives in order to contribute towards a better enviroment
that would hopefully be more conducive to a better society. We must all do our part.
