AD salutes new President
Alternattiva Demokratika has saluted George Abela, who will be sworn in as President tomorrow.
AD chairman Arnold Cassola said: "Our country deserves a President elected by a strong majority in Parliament, one who can help to unify our people and who also enjoys the respect of the international community.
"As from now George Abela represents all of us, whether PN, PL, AD or what not, and is the President of all Maltese and Gozitans without distinction. We are sure he will carry out his mandate in the best of ways," Prof. Cassola said.

Maybe Dr. Fenech Adami's 'noble' words at St.Andrews prior to the crucial elections for EU accession - where he risked getting Labour in office (& thus bye EU) to ensure that AD will not be represented in parliament - has something to do with it?

Whilst complimenting AD for congratulating the incoming President, one is surprised, if not dismayed that the same party did not thank the outgoing President of Malta Dr.Eddie Fenech Adami. Wasn't the latter a President for the whole of the Maltese nation?
