Aeronautics Defence Systems Ltd, an Israeli company, has won a €3.08 million contract for the installation and commissioning of an integrated communications system for the Armed Forces of Malta.
The system, which will replace significant elements of the current analogue communications utilised by the Maltese military, will provide a secure, digital command-and-control network capable of voice and data transmissions.
The project will be co-financed 75% from the EU External Border Fund and 25% from Malta Government funds.
The project will considerably enhance the ability of the AFM to control deployed units on land, at sea and in the air. The system will also support international cooperation in the framework of FRONTEX Joint Operations by providing seamless interoperability between various national forces.
Aeronautics Defence Systems Ltd have a wide experience in the integration of command, control and communications (C3) systems.
They will be supported during implementation and long-term support by the local company Alliance Business Systems, specialists in IT and Networking solutions.
The contract is due to be signed later this week.
