Victor Muscat vented his anger (March 27) at the fact that the bus shelter near the entrance to the industrial estate opposite Wied Incita in Attard has still not been relocated. I sympathise with him as I do with all those live in the vicinity who, for such a long time, have been deprived of something so simple, relatively inexpensive but very convenient: a bus shelter.

I first got involved in the matter as deputy mayor of Attard. After months of haggling I managed to persuade the Malta Transport Authority (ADT) to get an old shelter from Mellieħa and install it in the same place where a permanent one used to be located. Unfortunately, this bus shelter was stolen after a few months. It is unbelievable that someone managed to rob the residents of Attard of a bus shelter without being caught red-handed!

Once elected to Parliament I started tabling parliamentary questions on the subject. My last PQ (no. 4501) was answered last January.

The minister responsible for ADT informed me that the regulator had received quotations for the provision of a new bus shelter and would install it once the contractor was selected. Now that three whole months have passed I am patiently waiting for this matter to be brought to a positive conclusion. Perhaps ADT should not wait for another parliamentary question to hasten the process so that any doubt that this matter has got out of its hand is removed.
