The government has issued the first tenders for the rebuilding of the road to Ta' Pinu and parts of the road from Victoria to Xlendi in Gozo.

The projects, covering 2.5km of road, with benefit from €8.6 million of EU funding.

The Ministry for Gozo said it has also embarked on a road maintenance programme following the damage caused by the heavy rainfall during the past months. These works include light maintenance, as well as more intensive interventions requiring scarifying and hot asphalt application.

Hot asphalt has, so far, been applied on part of Ħamet Road in Xagħra, as well as part of Lunzjata Valley Road, part of Enrico Mizzi Street, By-the-Bastion Road and Taflija Road in Victoria. Similar works are planned for Capuchins Street, in Victoria, as well as parts of Qala Road limits of Borg Għarib, in Għajnsielem.

Road patching will be made in Republic Street, Victoria, and roads in Nadur and Xagħra together with Qbajjar Road, limits of Marsalforn.
