Europe-bound migrants' boat sinks off Libya
A fishing boat packed with 257 migrants heading for Europe has sunk off the Libyan coast and at least 10 Egyptians are among the dead, the Egyptian state news agency MENA said this evening.
MENA quoted an Egyptian Foreign Ministry official as saying rescue workers had rescued at least six Egyptians. It gave no word on the fate of migrants of other nationalities on board.
Two boats of approximately the same size arrived in Malta earlier this year, with some of their passengers being Egyptian.

Poor them. My heart goes out to them. It is not just a problem for the Maltese, imagine risking your life to go to another country in this kind of weather. Their blood is on the hands of the smugglers. God knows what they are doing, and they will get their comeuppance. Saying that, I still think illegal immigration is a huge problem, but it is such a shame that the unlucky few get to sink.

Over 1000 have landed in Lampedusa and Italy in 24 hours. Over 200 are feared dead in the sinking mentioned in the Times article and another 350 have been picked up by an Italian ship.
And we are still barely out of winter. So I cannot imagine what the fine weather will bring. This is a concerted effort to destabilise Europe, and it is succeeding.
