Between August 2008 and January the government paid out €56.2 million for voluntary resignations from Malta Shipyards under schemes B, C and D, as well as €57.5 million for early retirement.

The sum of €110,000 is still owed. The information was given by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech in reply to a parliamentary question by Opposition Leader Joseph Muscat.
