Which came first: the chicken or the egg? Although this paradox has puzzled thinkers for many years, the Maltese had the opportunity to view both at the Chicken And Egg fair in Dingli yesterday.

During the day-long family event, children learnt how eggs are produced and saw the range of live hens, chickens and cockerels.

Fresh fruit and vegetables were also on display and the children were delighted to see, and perhaps pet, two ponies.

Food stalls with chicken (of course!) as the main dish presented in different recipes tempted onlookers. Students from the Institute of Tourism Studies prepared delectable dishes as families had the opportunity to participate in cooking competitions.
