The effect of food and drink on our health was the main theme for this year's activities held to mark World Consumer Rights Day on March 15.
Activities, which included a presentation featuring the eight basic consumer rights, information on how consumers should choose best foods for a healthy diet and games for children, were held at Sir M.A. Refalo Centre for Further Studies in Victoria.
This year, the World Consumer Rights Day movement intensified its focus on the marketing of unhealthy food to children.
Consumers International, with over 220 member organisations in 115 countries, is asking the World Health Organisation for an international code to ban the marketing of unhealthy food to all children around the world.
